MidJersey Orthopaedics is proud to welcome Amit K. Bhandutia, MD to the practice. Dr. Bhandutia is a native of eastern Pennsylvania with over 6 years of orthopaedic and spine surgical experience following graduation from Jefferson Medical College. He graduated from the prestigious accelerated BS-MD program in conjunction with Penn State and Jefferson Medical College. Following medical school, he went to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA – a level 1 Trauma center, chosen for excellence in all around training in orthopaedic trauma and total joint replacement, finishing his residency as a chief resident. Following orthopaedic training, Dr. Bhandutia subspecialized in spinal surgery due to his interest in its complexity in diagnosis to treatment with fellowship training at the University of Maryland. He specialized in care of patients with a wide variety of spine conditions including degenerative, trauma, deformity, and oncologic patients and ranging from minimally invasive surgery to large scale spinal deformity correction and revision surgical procedures.
Dr. Bhandutia believes foremost in the maintaining patient mobility and wants to return patients to maximal ability, whether it requires medication, injection or surgery. With a comprehensive, patient-centered approach, he focuses on identification of the pain generator and establishment of a treatment plan. Surgery is utilized as a last resort – with emphasis on trying the least invasive and non-operative treatment modalities first. Influenced by his mentors, he practices evidence based medicine and believes in minimal operations. He feels that the most gratifying part of medical practice is returning people to their best possible function.
